Understanding Link Statuses and Alerts

Link Monitor checks your backlinks on a schedule and logs every change it finds. The Alerts page is where you see what happened and when.

The four link statuses

Every monitored link has one of four statuses:

• Found (green) — the link is live and working as expected
• Missing (red) — the link has been removed from the page
• Changed (amber) — the link is still there but something was modified
• Error (gray) — the page couldn't be reached (timeout, 404, server error)

The eight alert types

When Link Monitor detects a change, it creates an alert. Here's what each one means:

• Link Removed (red) — a backlink was deleted from the page
• Link Found (green) — a new backlink was detected
• Anchor Changed (amber) — the link text was edited
• Rel Changed (amber) — the rel attribute changed (e.g., dofollow flipped to nofollow)
• URL Changed (blue) — the link's target URL was altered
• Page Error (gray) — the page returned an HTTP error
• Page Hidden (Noindex) (purple) — the page was marked noindex
• Redirected (blue) — the page now redirects somewhere else

The alerts table

Go to Link Monitor > Alerts to see the full log. Each row shows:

• Event — the alert type with its icon and badge
• Domain / URL — the affected link
• Previous status — what it was before the change
• Current status — what it changed to
• Timestamp — when the change was detected (e.g., "2 hours ago")

Filtering alerts

Use the filter bar to narrow things down:

• Search — by domain or URL
• Event type — filter to one specific alert type
• Date range — choose Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, Last 90 Days, or set a custom range
