Setting Up Auto-Recovery Campaigns

When a link goes missing, you don't have to chase it down manually. Recovery campaigns send automated email sequences to the site admin and ask them to put the link back.

Where to find it

Go to Link Monitor > Recovery in the sidebar.

Creating a recovery sequence

Click New Sequence. You'll fill in:

  • Sequence name — something you'll recognize later
  • Description — a short note about what this sequence is for
  • Email subject — the subject line for your outreach email
  • Email body — write your message in the rich text editor

You can drop these variables into your email and they'll fill in automatically:

  • {first_name} — the site admin's first name
  • {admin_email} — their email address
  • {domain} — the domain where the link lived
  • {link_url} — the exact URL that had your backlink

Follow-up settings

Set up automatic follow-ups for contacts who don't reply:

  • Max follow-ups — 1 to 3 additional emails
  • Follow-up delay — days between each one (e.g., 7, 14, 21)

Managing sequences

Your sequences show up as cards. Each card shows:

  • Status — Active, Inactive, or Draft
  • Metrics — links assigned and emails sent
  • Actions — Edit, Duplicate, or Delete

Assigning a sequence to missing links

Go to the Links page, select your missing links, and click Send Recovery in the bulk action bar. Pick the sequence you want, and the emails go out automatically from there.

Email log

Switch to the Email Log tab to see every recovery email that's been sent:

  • Contact email — who it went to
  • Template — Initial, Follow-up 1, Follow-up 2, or Follow-up 3
  • Status — Scheduled, Sending, Sent, Cancelled, or Failed
  • Sent date — when it was delivered
