How to Add Links for Monitoring
Link Monitor can't track anything until you tell it what to watch. There are three ways to add links.
Where to find it
Go to Link Monitor > Add Links in the sidebar.
Option 1: CSV Upload
Best if you already have a backlink list exported from another tool.
- Click CSV Upload.
- Drag your file in, or click to browse.
- Not sure about the format? Download the sample CSV first — it shows exactly which columns to include.
Your file should have columns for: target page URL, expected link URL, anchor text, and rel type.
Option 2: Manual Entry
Add links one at a time using a form. Good for small lists or one-off additions.
Each row has fields for:
- Target Page URL — the page where your link appears
- Expected Link URL — the URL the link points to (your page)
- Expected Anchor Text (optional) — the link text you expect to see
- Expected Rel Type — dofollow, nofollow, or other
- Frequency — how often to check: Daily, every 3 days, Weekly, or Monthly
- Site Admin Name (optional) — contact at the linking site
- Site Admin Email (optional) — their email, used for recovery outreach
Option 3: Domain Scan
Don't have a list? Use Domain Scan and Link Monitor will find your backlinks for you.
- Choose Domain Scan.
- Enter your domain.
- Link Monitor pulls known backlinks pointing to your site.
This is the fastest way to get started from scratch.
Assigning to a project
After adding links, you'll pick a project to organize them under. This keeps your monitoring grouped by client or site so nothing gets mixed up.
