How to Create and Manage Projects

Projects are how you organize your link building work in Uprankly. Each project is one website — with its own competitors, keywords, prospect lists, and campaigns.

Creating a project

Go to Link Builder > Projects and click New Project. A 5-step wizard walks you through setup:

  1. Website details — enter your URL, pick a name (it auto-fills from the domain), and choose a category from the dropdown.
  2. Competitors — add them manually or let Uprankly find them for you.
  3. Keywords — enter your targets manually or use the AI suggestion tool to generate a list.
  4. Outreach targeting — set a minimum Domain Rating (default: 50), a monthly backlink goal (default: 25), and your primary goal, like authority building.
  5. Review — check everything looks right, then create the project.

The project list

Your projects appear in a table. Each row shows the metrics you need at a glance:

  • Status — Setup, Active, Paused, or Archived
  • Stage — where the project is in the workflow: Research, Prospecting, Outreach, or Monitoring
  • Opportunities — link targets you've discovered
  • Campaigns — outreach campaigns currently running
  • Links — backlinks acquired so far
  • Competitors — how many competitors are being tracked

Use the search bar, status filter, or stage filter to find what you need. You can sort by last activity, name, links, or opportunities.

What's inside a project

Each project holds:

  • Your site's link profile data — DR, traffic, and referring domains
  • Prospect lists from different sources: keyword search, competitor gaps, your network, inventory, or manual uploads
  • Outreach campaigns with sent, opened, and replied stats
